Probate Fees

PROFESSIONAL CHARGES %
Personal Estate 2% of the gross value of the Estate (excluding any property) plus VAT
Personal Residence 2% of gross value plus VAT

The above charges are for where:

  • •  there is a valid will or there is a simple Intestacy situation;
  • •  there is no more than one property;
  • •  there are no more than a maximum of 10 bank or building society accounts or life policies not in trust;
  • •  there are no more than 6 separate shareholdings registered in the deceased’s name and not in a nominee arrangement;
  • •  there are no other intangible assets such as royalties or other intellectual property assets;
  • •  there are no more than six beneficiaries whose address details are known as at the date of death from the deceased’s papers being accurate;
  • •  there are no disputes between beneficiaries on the division of assets. If disputes arise this is likely to lead to an increase in costs and we shall immediately requote;
  • •  there is no inheritance tax payable and the executors do not need to submit a full account to HMRC or there is IHT payable, a return is needed and it can be funded from one account pre application for the grant; and
  • •  there are no claims made against the Estate by creditors or persons under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975

*If there is no will or the estate consists of any shareholdings (stocks and bonds) there is likely to be additional costs that could range significantly depending on the estate and how it is to be dealt with. We can give you a more accurate quote once we have more information.

*Please note that there will be a minimum fee charged of £2,500 plus VAT
