Maternity, paternity and adoption rights including flexible working

In this day and age it is becoming more and more apparent that employers need to protect their businesses by implementing specific policies and procedures, especially given the risk of employee claims.

It is therefore important that employers consider whether or not it is appropriate for them to have family friendly policies in place to include a maternity policy, paternity policy and adoption policy.

There have been various changes to the legislation covering family friendly policies in recent years, including the introduction of Shared Parental Leave, so employers should give serious consideration as to how they are to put systems and policies in place in order to manage this leave effectively.

Flexible Working

The government has also made changes to flexible working and has extended the right to request flexible working to all employees. This should help to create a more motivated and flexible workforce.

You should therefore consider contacting us so that we can either prepare draft policies for your use or undertake a thorough review of your current policies to ensure they remain up to date.

Alternatively, if you would like any further information and/or clarification on what you should put into place as an employer please contact us to discuss.
