Job Title: Residential Property Solicitor/Legal Executive or Licensed Conveyancer – East Grinstead

Contract Type: Full time - Permanent

We are seeking a full-time Residential Property Solicitor/Legal Executive or Licensed Conveyancer to join our small, friendly team in East Grinstead.

The role would suit someone who has residential property experience (2-3 PQE) running their own caseload and someone who has aspirations for progression. You will have a comprehensive knowledge of the Law Society’s Conveyancing Protocol, and experience of working within the CQS framework.

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills together with a high level of attention to detail in order to sustain the quality of service we deliver to our clients.

Key responsibilities for this role are:

  • To increase the fee income of property work
  • To manage a full and varied caseload unsupervised and working on your own initiative
  • To liaise with estate agents on a regular basis to promote our services
  • To develop and manage relationships with providers and clients

Job Title: Senior Secretary – Tunbridge Wells

Contract Type: Full Time - Permanent

We are seeking a full-time Senior Secretary for our Tunbridge Wells Family and Divorce Department.

This role would suit an independent and professional individual who has a high degree of self-management and takes initiative. You will be joining a small, friendly team.

Main Objectives of the Role:

  • To act as a point of contact for the Family department at Tunbridge Wells
  • To provide direct secretarial and administrative support to the department to enable fee-earners to operate at optimum efficiency.
  • In addition to providing support to the department, you will be required to provide support for other departments when the need arises, particularly during holidays and absence.
  • To ensure you are sufficiently trained on our case management system (ALB) to be able to fully utilise the available features of the department module for family, private client and property work.
  • To provide a highly professional service to work colleagues, clients and visitors.
  • To communicate effectively at all levels and to have a confident, empathetic and friendly approach.
  • To record time as instructed, using the senior secretary charge-out rate, but without having a financial target.

Key Tasks of the Role:

  • Scanning all incoming post and put it onto ALB.
  • Typing correspondence and documents generally via digital dictation.
  • Answering incoming calls, and taking messages.
  • Administering filing which will include daily filing and the opening, closing, storage and retrieval of client files in accordance with the firm’s procedures and Lexcel compliancy.
  • Ensuring all files are Lexcel compliant.
  • Dealing with all new clients, i.e. arranging initial meetings.
  • Obtaining client ID via the online system.
  • Making appointments, arranging meeting rooms and maintaining an up-to-date Outlook calendar for your fee-earner.
  • Keeping Court board up to date.
  • Attending Court hearings when required and taking a detailed note.
  • Calling Courts, chasing up documents, enquiring about hearing dates, etc.
  • Instructing Barristers – liaising with Clerks re. fees, booking in hearings, briefs etc.
  • Paying Counsel’s fees.
  • Preparing Court bundles and briefs.
  • Providing support to other secretaries/departments as required.
  • Preparing breakdowns of all bills and sending them out.
  • Dealing with any queries/complaints re. bills.
  • Chasing debtors/unpaid bills.
  • Taking details for card payments.
  • Dealing with accounting queries.
  • Monitoring fee earner’s emails for fee related matters, saving to ALB, printing and filing.
  • Assisting fee earner with marketing opportunities, booking events, organising events in conjunction with Marketing Manager.
  • Undertaking any specific training when required to do so and overall to have a responsibility towards self-development.
  • Ensuring the confidentiality of all the firm’s and clients’ documentation and information.

Job Title: Commercial Property Solicitor – Tunbridge Wells

Contract Type: Full Time - Permanent

We are seeking a full-time Commercial Property Solicitor to join our team at the Tunbridge Wells office. The role will be a mixture of landlord and tenant transactional work. You will be acting for developers to acquire land for developments, alongside acting for sellers of land for: development, financing transactions, solar farm leasing, some agricultural land conveyancing, acting for lenders, and general commercial property conveyancing.

We have a highly collegiate, non-hierarchical and open minded management style at Buss Murton. You will be encouraged to establish and develop relationships with clients and other professionals as well as to find your own ‘brand’ within the community in the South East.

Main Objectives of the Role:

  • To manage a full and varied case load unsupervised, working on your own initiative
  • To increase the fee income of property work
  • To seek to promote our services
  • To comply with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and the Rules of the SRA Code of Conduct
  • To ensure continued compliance with Lexcel Standards
  • To ensure the successful development of the firm in line with the business plan (balanced scorecard) found within QMIS.

Job Title: Private Client Solicitor/ FCILEx – Tunbridge Wells

We are seeking a full-time  (but part-time applications are also welcome and will be considered) Private Client Solicitor. This is an exciting opportunity to join our expanding Private Client team at Buss Murton Law. Whilst you will be based in our Tunbridge Wells office, you will be part of our wider Private Client team located at our Cranbrook and East Grinstead offices.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Day to day conduct of matters on behalf of clients in respect of all private client matters including wills, trusts, probates and administration of estates and lasting powers of attorney. Experience in Court of Protection applications/administration and estate planning advice would be an advantage.
  • Explaining complex legal matters to clients
  • Financial control with regard to cashflow control through collection of monies on account and billing procedures
  • To meet agreed time recording, billing and recovery of costs targets
  • To develop and maintain client relationships
