A few months ago, Megan Apps joined our Residential Property team at Buss Murton Law.
Recently, she shared her story on LinkedIn — alongside a photo from her graduation with her daughter — and the response was both powerful and deeply relatable.
At 16, Megan found out she was pregnant.
With the support of her parents, she made a commitment to continue her education. She completed her A-levels during Covid — navigating the challenges that came with it — before going on to study law at university.
She graduated with a 2:1.
Alongside her studies, Megan has been raising her daughter — now 8 years old — who she describes as her greatest achievement.
A Story That Resonated
Megan’s post struck a chord with many people across the legal profession and beyond.
It prompted an outpouring of support and shared experiences from others who had balanced study, career ambitions and parenthood.
Comments included:
“If this doesn’t prove that being a mother doesn’t have to impact your career, I don’t know what does.”
“I remember typing assignments one-handed while holding a newborn…”
“Takes me back to taking exams heavily pregnant and studying with a toddler at home.”
“This is the most inspiring story I’ve come across this week.”
What stood out was how many people recognised themselves in Megan’s journey.
More Than One Path Into Law
At Buss Murton, we know there is no single route into a career in law.

Looking Ahead
We’re proud to have Megan as part of our Residential Property team, which continues to grow, and to support individuals building their careers in their own way.
