After taking a degree in English and History, Robin turned to the study of Law, training with the Swindon firm of Townsends (now Thring Townsend), and qualifying as a solicitor in 1977.  He then joined the mid-Sussex firm of Whitley Hughes and Luscombe (which later merged into what is now DMH Stallard), where he worked on wills, probate, trusts and conveyancing.

He joined Buss Murton's private client team in 2001, and now specialises in the administration of estates of every size and level of complexity, including those with a foreign dimension.

Alongside this, he is also involved in wills and tax planning; the establishment, administration, winding up and taxation of trusts; elderly client work; and property matters relevant to trusts and estates. 

Since 1995 he has been a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
