Melanie is a consultant barrister to the family team. She was called to the Bar in 1984, and was a member of a specialist family law set of chambers and for 10 years had a successful practice in all areas of family law, appearing mainly in the High Court and County Court, but also undertaking cases in the Court of Appeal. After taking a career break to care for her children, Melanie joined Buss Murton in 2002.
Melanie appears in court in many divorce and other family law cases and also works alongside other members of family team, specialising in high net worth and the more complex ancillary relief cases. Melanie has a particular interest in collaborative law, and inn 2004 was one of the first lawyers in the area to qualify as a collaborative lawyer and was a founder member of the West Kent and East Sussex Collaborative Law group. She was part of the first successful collaboration in Kent and is now one of the most active and experienced collaborative lawyers in Kent.
Melanie is a member of the Family Law Bar Association and an affiliate member of Resolution (the former Solicitors Family Law Association).
